I’m Not What You Think

poetry blogger, scottish bloggers, mental health blogger, mental health blog, poetry blog, feeling like a fraud, this stuff is golden,

I’m not what you think,
I’m not who I am,
I’m an act a class act
Oh so typical
Typical girl
Lost
Stained
Dipping in and out
Rolling around in roles
For everybody and nobody
Not for you

I’m not what you think,
I’m not who I am,
I’m an act a class act
I can’t reach you from down here
Consolation prizes
Prizes at a price
Set for losers
Lovers like me
On the pandemonium
Losing my balance
Crumbling onto the floor
That light is too bright

I’m not what you think,
I’m not who I am,
I’m an act a class act
I can take you away
And bring you back
I’m covered in feathers and plucked
My heels are heavy
My hips are broken
The TOO MUCH gene I have too much of the TOO MUCH gene
What could I have been?
What am I?

I’m not what you think.
