messages, tove jansson, a winter book, book blogger, this stuff is golden, mental health blogger, scottish blogger,

I picked up “A Winter Book” by Tove Jansson at the library last week, and within it’s collection of short stories about Finland, childhood and boats, one particular piece really peaked my interest, so I thought I would have a go at creating my own version of Jansson’s short story; “Messages”.

So here are some messages I have received in some format over the last couple of months. I think I’m quite lucky in that most of them are positive.

Hi Lauren,
It is lovely to hear from you again. Thank you so much for the help, thanks to your efforts

Yeah everything is all good mind u I haven’t seen any of them in person yet when I do I know it might get a bit nasty.

Let me know what you think? If it doesn’t make sense or you don’t like it I can try to finish the other one again in the morning. I’ll be up early enough so no worries.

My messages aren’t sending either!!

Hi, How are you? Would you like to join a new Facebook group?

Hope life is going OK for you too. I look at your blog sometimes, and you’re a really great writer, I must say.

Thanks again for your letters! They’re always the happiest, most beautiful things in the mailbox. Can’t wait to hear from you!

I was looking over your website THIS STUFF IS GOLDEN and noticed you have a very nice blog. I really like the information you share.

Unfortunately, we don’t have a budget for this campaign, and are focusing on generating interest for anyone looking for products

Dear Lauren,
Thank you so much for agreeing to talk to me for an article in [retracted] magazine on the subject on image based crime.

Blame capitalism, not yourself. Problem is that what sells is not always what has real value

I’m doing great thanks, finally gone sale agreed on a tiny 2 bed terraced house close to work, it’s in a rough part of town but at least I won’t be homeless or sharing a room lol. I hope to have the keys to the place early Jan.
Awww you’re very sweet for trying to remember my bday, it’s the 28th, I know your’s is the 5th, 7th, 9th or the 14th Jan lmao, maybe it’s all four ?

Love you very much hope this money helps with a change to your life and giving you the opportunity you need xx

I guess whatever will use from the fridge. Or pizza.

Thanks for taking the time to read my rant…it feels good to be able to talk to someone who knows what I’m going through.

Unfortunately it is not in our budget at the moment. However, if things change I’ll be sure to follow up.

Thank you for checking in on me. I’m sorry for not replying to you before.
I’m a little better thank you. Still coming to terms with it but I’m getting there. I guess it’s going to take some time.

Oh bless you bub, I’m so grateful that you even read my work!

We really enjoyed your interpretation of the theme – your take on the unspoken rules on dating is so very apt, in particular that idea of seeming ‘unavailable’, which certainly has an interesting relationship to maintaining that sense of pride, and almost keeping your guard up. However, though we really enjoyed reading ‘The Right Time’, we unfortunately didn’t feel we had quite the right spot in our schedule for it this month.

Would you be happy to share socially instead?
