Entertaiment

Entertaiment is anything that amuses, distracts or delights. The clown at your kid’s birthday party, a Broadway show, a stadium rock concert, your friends fighting over the last potato chip—these are all forms of entertainment. The word originates from the Latin inter tenere (“to hold inside”). It was used in hospitality to keep guests happy and amused.

According to Oliver and Barstsch (2010) Entertainment is an activity understood objectively, encompasses communication between text and audience from an external stimulus, offers pleasure to the consumer and occurs in a passive form. Also, it stimulates the brain to realease seratonin and dopamine.
