  • Received the most lovely contact message from a reader:
Just felt like I needed to thank you for your blog posts. I found your page looking up ways to get through down-days… I have depression and anxiety, but my worst bought of it was over a year ago so I felt almost cured recently (silly I know)… Because of your advice I got up, got some food, put some music on, and I feel like I’m out of the spiral I got myself in. Keep doing what you’re doing, because you helped me so much today! I never felt like I’ve met someone who’s gone through such similar situations to me, so I just had to send you a message. Hope your Valentine’s Day is filled with love!

Things that have been out of the ordinary this week:

  • Have watched two Cary Grant movies (An Affair To Remember and North By North West), and found out that Cary Grant’s name at birth was Archibald Leach
  • Watched some ‘game play’ Youtube videos of the Sims 2
  • Seriously missed playing Sims
  • Created an awesome PowerPoint presentation that took hours of research (yet I really enjoyed making it)
  • Re-visited the Scottish National Gallery.

How’s your week been?

I love the idea of a weekly round up! The things you have included are so personal such as your favourite quote 🙂 Also thank you so much for including my post ‘why do we seek permission from others to live the life we want’. It’s super kind of you and I’m glad you enjoyed it!

Yo Lauren! Kudos on everything you are packing into one week, that’s awesome to read. Lovely to hear about all the projects you are working away at – keep these updates coming. They are about as authentic as writing comes and that’s got to be great both for self & readers 🙂 Just have to say, I can’t believe I have found someone else in the same predicament as me over Lena in Girls. Ha!

    Have a great week 🙂 x

    • Lauren says:

Aw thanks! I was never really sure about whether or not these Weekly Round-Ups would be of any interest to anybody, but so far have received some great feedback from them!
Haha, yes, Lena bugs me both in the show and in the real world, yet I feel that I must watch the last season because I actually like a few of the characters (Adam, Shosh & Jessa).
      Have a lovely weekend! x

  • I enjoy these posts! Lovely to read that message you’d been sent, it’s so rewarding when something that you write makes a difference to somebody 😊

This was a really great way to do a week recap. I love that you incorporated others into it! My week has fluctuated. When it started out my confidence was pretty high and as the week progressed I think I began telling myself that I’m not good enough to be a writer. I go through this at least once or twice a month. Why do we put ourselves down?

Meh, we’re all freakin’ awesome. Let’s keep being awesome, yeah? 🙂

    • Lauren says:

I get that all the time, mostly I can’t even cal myself a writer because it feels fraudulent!
      Yeah we are all awesome!
      Have an awesome weekend!

  • Jenny says:

Oh thank you so much for featuring my blog post in your favourites! I will check out the others x

I love the idea of these weekly round-ups! I can barely remember what happened yesterday let alone five days ago…!

I’ve been feeling pretty flat lately, which I know is A Bad Thing because it usually means I’m dropping into anxietyville for a quick stay. I haven’t spent any time yet examining my current kernel of dread to find out why it’s there. I’ve just been doing my usual healthy thing of battening down the hatches and hoping it will blow over.

Of course, last night I dreamt that I was on a plane that made an unhealthy *THUNK* sound and then spiralled until it crashed into the sea wing-first. Water smashed through the windows and rushed through the aisles, and before I could take a full breath I was plunged into icy seawater. I opened my eyes and saw… nothing. Just tumultuous bubbles everywhere. Like being trapped in the middle of a wave. I didn’t have much air left and realised I was going to die. My lungs were burning. We were definitely all going to die. And then I woke up!

    So restful. Much peace. Wow.

…So maybe I should try to tackle the problem head on before my eyebags become permanently etched into my face or I end up in the kitchen crying because I can’t peel my Easi Single off the plastic without it breaking and OH GOD CAN I DO NOTHING RIGHT I CAN’T EVEN PEEL AN EASI SINGLE PROPERLY I AM A FAILURE OF A HUMAN BEING A GARBAGE FIRE OF A PERSON!

Seriously. These things escalate to the point of no rational thought.

That was probably more of a word dump than you were expecting! You did ask, though…… Now I’m off to read those lovely posts you linked to see if they can help turn this mess around!

    • Lauren says:

That sounds like a horrible nightmare – I’m lucky that I don’t get anxiety dreams that often, though I did wake up at 5am this morning (stupid period) which gave my mind the opportunity to remember all the things I have been worrying about, keeping me awake til around 7.30. Did get to sleep again for a little while longer but it took a while for the horrible thoughts to shut up and let me rest!
You can totally word dump on me lovely, I consider you my Irish blogger friend now so feel free to chat away!
Hope you like the favourite blog reads of the week – it’s my favourite part of these posts 🙂
